The Crossroad Academy Scorpions's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 67-66 victory over Munroe. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Crossroad Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myron Tennell led the charge by scoring 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tennell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Mari Favors, who scored ten points along with six assists and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Munroe lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leith Kenon. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Kenon is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Karlton Knight was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Even though they lost, Munroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossroad Academy only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Crossroad Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Munroe, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crossroad Academy will take on Community Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Community Leadership Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 607th, while Crossroad Academy is ranked 211th). As for Munroe, they will be playing at home against Gadsden County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
