The Strath Haven Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Haverford Fords at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Strath Haven 3.1, Haverford 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Thursday, Strath Haven came up short against Henderson and fell 4-1.
Strath Haven got a good showing from Jasper Hals, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Hals has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Strath Haven saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Milligan, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Quinn Kell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Haverford put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Harriton 11-5.
Rocco Kelleher looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shane Durkan, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cassidy, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Haverford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Haverford's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Strath Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Strath Haven came out on top in a nail-biter against Haverford when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
