Rocky Mountain Lutheran will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Front Range Baptist on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 17-1 win. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gavin Borchardt made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Borchardt was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Rocky Mountain Lutheran's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Noah Lile was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Sternhagen, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dawson School came up short against Bishop Machebeuf on Thursday and fell 11-8.
Dawson School got a massive performance out of Milo Richtel, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Shelton Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-3. As for Dawson School, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rocky Mountain Lutheran has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Dawson School struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Dawson School when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
