The Wickliffe Blue Devils were the 69-62 winner over the Crestwood Red Devils when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Wickliffe took a serious blow against Crestwood on Tuesday, falling 74-47. While losing is never fun, Wickliffe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 738th, while Crestwood is ranked 179th).
Charlie Schweickert continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crestwood, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Dekota Johnson, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Wickliffe's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Crestwood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Wickliffe will look to defend their home court on Friday against Grand Valley at 6:45 p.m. Grand Valley is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Crestwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Berkshire at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
