It was a good run, but the Blue Ridge Barons unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Sunday. They fell 87-77 to NC GBB Academy National. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Saturday (64), Blue Ridge still had to take the loss.
Several Barons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamren Martin, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanon Simango, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Blue Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for NC GBB Academy National, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Blue Ridge will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against St. Anne's-Belfield at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for NC GBB Academy National, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against New Life Christian Academy.
