The Reno Huskies will be playing at home against the Douglas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Reno has three straight wins, Douglas has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Reno has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. They breezed by Lowry at home to the tune of 75-34. With Reno ahead 43-21 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Reno's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Boyd, who scored 7 points along with 6 assists and 6 steals. Boyd hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Casey, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Douglas came up short against Elko on Saturday and fell 54-41.
Trace Estes put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Caden Thacker was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Reno's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Douglas, they bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Reno have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Douglas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.9 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
