Hunter Sweeney and Grant Scherger made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Sweeney didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Scherger pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Sweeney also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lakota is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise. At the plate, Sweeney got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double, while Scherger went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grant Bomer, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Jacob Hines was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central Catholic suffered their closest loss since May 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Danbury by a score of 4-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Crimson Streaks in their meetings with the Lakers: they've now lost three in a row.
Andrew Spieldenner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Gill, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
St. Joseph Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Lakota, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Lakota took their win against St. Joseph Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crimson Streaks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
