The Central Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Calhoun, falling 88-51. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Calhoun is ranked 203rd).
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Iyanis Wallace, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Dekijuan Mccall was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhoun only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Tyler Robertson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Calhoun, dropping a triple-double on 31 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenterris Managan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Central's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Ellwood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ellwood Christian has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 9. As for Calhoun, they will play host again and welcome Autaugaville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Autaugaville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
