The Somers Tuskers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Averill Park on Friday as Somers made off with a 31-7 victory. The victory was nothing new for Somers as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Kelly, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Sullivan, who threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Somers' defense and their four sacks. Ryan Cole was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
Somers' win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Averill Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Somers is on the road again on Friday and play against Niskayuna at 6:00 p.m. on November 24th. Niskayuna is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Averill Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
