After losing to the Ouachita Parish Lions the last time they met, the Alexandria Trojans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Alexandria sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over Ouachita Parish on Friday. Given Alexandria's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Ouachita Parish is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexandria had a senior duo take command as Jaylin Johnson scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals and Chavez Whitehead scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitehead has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Bobb, who scored nine points.
Alexandria's win bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Ouachita Parish, they dropped their record down to 15-17 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Alexandria will stay at home for another game and welcome Pineville at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Pineville will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Alexandria surely won't give up without a fight. Ouachita Parish does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
