Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Balboa recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will welcome the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Lincoln will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Lincoln is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mission with a sharp 18-1 victory on Tuesday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Ella Wolters made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wolters was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That hit was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lincoln let Brienna Tsui and Mina Reyes run wild. Tsui went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Reyes went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Reyes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Liang, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Balboa lost 22-3 to Washington back in March. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered against the Eagles since March 16, 2017.
Balboa's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
Lincoln might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Balboa when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
