The Pearce Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Haltom Buffalos at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pearce knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Haltom likes a good challenge.
Pearce's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on MacArthur with a sharp 21-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 14 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Lexie Landers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Molly Simmons was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Aubrey Yarbrough was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Pearce hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Haltom and Arlington, and Arlington kept the tradition alive. The Buffalos came up short against the Colts on Monday, falling 13-3.
Pearce is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Haltom, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.
Pearce was able to grind out a solid win over Haltom when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 20-16. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
