The St. Joseph Central Irish struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Sissonville Indians had 700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. St. Joseph Central fell to Sissonville 49-45. St. Joseph Central lost against Sissonville in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 71-57 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Niko Kaufmann. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with 8 steals. Kaufmann scored a full 37.8% of St. Joseph Central's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Ransbottom, who scored 8 points along with 12 rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Kynadee Britton, who scored 25 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Sissonville's points. Makinley Britton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
St. Joseph Central now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Sissonville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Central will take on Winfield at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Winfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Sissonville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Nitro at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Nitro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Saturday.
