After flying high against the Antelope Rams last Tuesday, the Maryvale Prep Matador came back down to earth. Maryvale Prep took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Music Mountain on Friday. Maryvale Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Music Mountain apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Music Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aliyania Matuck, who scored 26 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Matuck has scored at least a third of Music Mountain's points. The team also got some help courtesy of A'oda Chavez, who scored 14 points.
Maryvale Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Music Mountain, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maryvale Prep will take on Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Music Mountain, they will head out on the road to take on Mayer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mayer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
