Sullivan County hasn't had much luck against Muncy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Griffins will venture away from home to square off against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Sullivan County has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Sullivan County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 26 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Montgomery on Wednesday. They lost 12-2 to the Red Raiders.
Sullivan County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Evans hit this season.
Meanwhile, Muncy made easy work of Millville last Wednesday and carried off a 24-2 win. The Indians have beaten the Quakers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Quakers has come to flipping the script.
Chevelle Bauman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bauman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Leah Vest was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Taylor Shannon, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Muncy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millville only posted an OBP of .438.
Muncy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sullivan County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Sullivan County might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Muncy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Griffins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
