The Ascend Leadership Aviators can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They snuck past Southern Wake Academy with a 28-24 win. The victory was just what Ascend Leadership needed coming off of a 41-21 defeat in their prior matchup.
Despite the defeat, Southern Wake Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jayme Endicott almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southern Wake Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-6) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Ascend Leadership's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10. As for Southern Wake Academy, their defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-16.
Ascend Leadership will head out on the road to challenge the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern Wake Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m.
