Travis Monett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Monett wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adam Roumanos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Boulder City made easy work of Wooster on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Spencer Aten was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Gavin Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Boulder City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.
Boulder City's victory bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Elko, their win bumped their record up to 29-6.
Elko's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Boulder City, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Elko continue to outrun the ball?
Elko came up short against Boulder City in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, falling 9-4. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
