Basketball Recap: Javius Andrews' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bay City over Brazosport

Bay City lost against Brazosport back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bay City Blackcats fell to the Brazosport Exporters 59-54.

Bay City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javius Andrews, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 13 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Andrews a new career-high. Brayden Ellis was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Bay City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Bay City dropped their record down to 9-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Brazosport, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Bay City will head out on the road to face off against Sweeny at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bay City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season. As for Brazosport, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Columbia at 5:00 p.m. Columbia has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight losses, while Brazosport will come in with three straight victories.
