The Unionville Longhorns came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Central Dauphin 51-49.
Central Dauphin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jelani Easter, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Lleyton Fried, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Central Dauphin struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Unionville's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Central Dauphin, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Unionville will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Plymouth Whitemarsh at 7:45 p.m. on December 30th. Plymouth Whitemarsh is on a three-game streak of home wins, Unionville a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Central Dauphin will take on Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Harrisburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Central Dauphin is ranked 43rd).
