Thomas Nelson hasn't had much luck against Danville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Generals will challenge the Admirals at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Thomas Nelson beats Danville with 20 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Generals blew past Cornerstone Christian Academy 20-1 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Generals, who have now won six games in a row.
Jacob Parsley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Parsley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Thomas Nelson got a massive performance out of Cade Benningfield, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave Benningfield a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Girdley, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Thomas Nelson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Danville hadn't beaten Garrard County on the road since April 26, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Admirals were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Golden Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Admirals have posted against the Golden Lions since April 27, 2022.
Fox Spears was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Spears was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Danville let Wyatt Gale and KJ Dismeaux run wild. Gale went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Dismeaux went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Dismeaux has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Thomas Nelson's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Danville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Thomas Nelson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thomas Nelson suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Danville in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
