1A Conference 6 recap December 3, 2013
West Montgomery extended the longest winning streak in 1A Conference 6 this week by beating East Surry, 48-27. The victory was the 13th in a row for the Warriors.
West Montgomery took down the Cardinals 48-27 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Albemarle's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bryan Blanton threw for 125 and 2 touchdowns and Travis Bennett had 81 yards receiving. On the ground Kevin McKinney chipped in 73 yards. germarcus Sellers helped Albemarle's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 33 yards.
McKinney was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 73 yards on 17 carries as the Bulldogs topped South Robeson. Teammate Robert Mack added to the ground attack by rushing for 69 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Albemarle's Blanton and Timmie White have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Blanton has thrown for 2,106 yards this season, while White has 38 catches for 1,176 yards. Antonio Williams from North Stanly leads the league in rushing with 2,170 yards.
Accruing a total of 26 touchdowns this year, Craig Twele has thrown for 1,908 yards with 15 interceptions.
McKinney of the Seth Smith's team is just 70 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 110 carries McKinney has put up 930 yards this year.
Nick Eddins' team led 1A Conference 6 in scoring this week by notching 48 points on East Surry.
