The Choctaw Central Warriors waltzed into their match on Tuesday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Lauderdale 85-57 at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Choctaw Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clemons Zylier, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Alan John, jr, who scored 16 points.
Choctaw Central is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. As for West Lauderdale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Choctaw Central will challenge the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leake Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Warriors are ranked eighth). West Lauderdale is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Northeast Lauderdale will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
