North Allegheny (Wexford, Pa.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 1 in Pennsylvania, but was stunned by
Seneca Valley (Harmony, Pa.), 20-6. Seneca Valley was ranked at No. 26 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Pennsylvania coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
Tj Holl touchdown pass to
Eric Mrkonja in the first quarter, the Raiders led 12-0 at the half.
North Allegheny's only touchdown came on a 34-yard pass from
Jeff Clemens to
Olwaseun Idowu in the fourth quarter.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Tigers took, 35-10.
The defeat comes as a step back for North Allegheny, which notched a 42-7 victory over Fox Chapel in its previous outing. With the win Seneca Valley extended its winning streak to three games. The loss ended North Allegheny's two-game winning streak.
