Lexington Catholic won against Lafayette on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Knights didn't even let the Male Bulldogs on the board, marking the Knights' second-straight 6-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Josh Edwards and Jack Sams dominated on the mound. Edwards tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Sams pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Edwards has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Hughes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. Bennie Lawrence was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lexington Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Male, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lexington Catholic will square off against Scott County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Male, they will take on Sayre at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
