The Shelbyville Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fisher. Shelbyville found out winning isn't easy when you make eight fewer threes than your opponent.
Shelbyville's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kenzie Jones, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jones is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Dru Clark was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 29 rebounds.
Fisher was led to victory by Melina Luyando and Paige Hott. Luyando scored 17 points along with 4 steals, while Hott dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Luyando's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maylie Evans, who scored 12 points.
Shelbyville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Fisher, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Shelbyville will head out on the road to face off against Martinsville at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Martinsville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Fisher, they will face off against Cerro Gordo/Bement at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Cerro Gordo/Bement focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
