Northland Christian pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Heartland by a score of 65-63. Northland Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Heartland apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
Heartland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Diego Martinez out in front who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Maiden, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Northland Christian and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Heartland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Northland Christian will head out on the road to face off against DeKalb at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heartland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Overland Christian at 7:30 p.m. Overland Christian and Heartland are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
