The Wickenburg Wranglers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 49-31 fall against Glendale Prep Academy. While losing is never fun, Wickenburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Glendale Prep Academy is ranked 48th).
Senna Smith was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds for Glendale Prep Academy. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Maddie Caspers was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Wickenburg now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Wickenburg and Bourgade Catholic will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Glendale Prep Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Odyssey Institute at 3:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Odyssey Institute is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
