Softball Recap: Holy Cross Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Holy Cross had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt New Braunfels Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Knights put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 20-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 11 matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Genesis Medrano made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Medrano was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Holy Cross got a massive performance out of Leena Garcia, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kamila Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

Holy Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .731. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Holy Cross has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for New Braunfels Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Holy Cross wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 20-4 win against Saint Mary's Hall on the 15th. As for New Braunfels Christian Academy, they will face off against Geneva at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
