The Health Sciences Surgeons fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Mountain Empire Redhawks on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redhawks. Health Sciences was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mountain Empire apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Corey Vann, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds for Mountain Empire. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vann has scored all season. Andrew Sepulveda was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Health Sciences are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for Mountain Empire, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Health Sciences will take on School for Entrepreneurship & Technology at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bayfront Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Bayfront Charter will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
