There's no place like home for the McClintock Chargers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against Campo Verde by a score of 54-45 on Wednesday. For McClintock, this counts as revenge for the 61-60 loss Campo Verde walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
McClintock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lamaiya Woodberry led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Woodberry has scored at least 25% of McClintock's points. Malani Reynoso was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelsey Watts, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The match was Watts' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Busch, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
McClintock's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Campo Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McClintock will take on Sierra Linda at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra Linda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while McClintock is ranked 111th). As for Campo Verde, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Chaparral at 5:30 p.m. Chaparral comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
