Del Oro is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Whitney Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Del Oro will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Del Oro's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Casa Roble 12-0. Considering the Golden Eagles have won four matchups by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Mikayla Finn looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Caelyn Campos was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Champas, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Del Oro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Casa Roble only posted an OBP of .136.
Meanwhile, Whitney made easy work of Bella Vista on Friday and carried off an 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.
Taylor Cordell looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tylie Kitchen, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Flindt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Whitney and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Del Oro, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Del Oro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. However, it's not like Whitney struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Del Oro might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Whitney when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Del Oro have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
