Basketball Recap: Shane Stock Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirate Win

There's no place like home for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 64-54 victory over the Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Falcons on Friday. For the Pirate, this counts as revenge for the 56-49 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shane Stock out in front who posted 20 points. The match was Stock's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was M.J. Tucker, who earned 15 points.

Loss or not, Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas got some senior leadership from Caleb Wingate and Jayden Aranas. Wingate dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Aranas put up 12 points and four steals. Aranas has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 22 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Escobedo, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon's record now sits at 2-3. As for Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon and Baker will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas will take on American Heritage Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American Heritage Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 50.8 points per game.
