The Manning Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They lost to Georgetown at home by a decisive 61-43 margin. Manning was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Georgetown apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Manning lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tavion Carter. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Ceasar, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Georgetown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jari Ford led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ford has scored all season. Ty Stanley was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four blocks and two steals.
Manning has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Georgetown, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Manning will be playing at home against Waccamaw at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Waccamaw is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Georgetown, they will head out on the road to square off against Dillon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dillon will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
