The Quincy Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Geneseo Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Geneseo took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Quincy, who comes in off a win.
Quincy stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Springfield Southeast 68-29 on the road. Given Quincy's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Springfield Southeast is ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quincy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jada Brown led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Myley Longcor, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Geneseo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Moline 48-43.
Quincy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Geneseo, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Everything came up roses for Quincy against Geneseo in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 51-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Quincy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
