Union hasn't had much luck against Grantsville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Union's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Ben Lomond as they made off with a 15-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Haylee Moynier made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Union got a massive performance out of Payzlei Parrish, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Parrish a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Teddy Oleen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .486 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Grantsville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Stallions.
The team relied heavily on Brynn Anderson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Eden Ressel was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Grantsville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Union, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Grantsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Union suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Grantsville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
