Gulf Coast HEAT hasn't had much luck against Foundation Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Gulf Coast HEAT will face off against the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Gulf Coast HEAT has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Gulf Coast HEAT is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Keswick Christian, falling 15-4.
Kevin McNulty made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foundation Christian Academy). They blew past Altamonte Christian 29-1 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Peyton Coakley and Caleb Hom did most of the damage at the plate: Coakley went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI, while Hom went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and five RBI. Those four hits gave Coakley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Messing, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Foundation Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Foundation Christian Academy's record is now 5-1. As for Gulf Coast HEAT, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gulf Coast HEAT has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Foundation Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Gulf Coast HEAT might still be hurting after the 17-3 loss they got from Foundation Christian Academy when the teams last played on Thursday. Can Gulf Coast HEAT avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
