After two games on the road, Denton is heading back home. They will take on the Colleyville Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Denton has not done well against Richland recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Denton's way against Richland as Denton made off with a 63-38 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Denton has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Chase Thomas, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Torres, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Colleyville Heritage beat Grapevine 47-42 on Tuesday. Given Colleyville Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Grapevine is ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Denton's win bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Colleyville Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Denton came up short against Colleyville Heritage in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 43-37. Can Denton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
