Monocacy Valley - Piedmont recap November 5, 2013
Middletown added to the longest winning streak in Monocacy Valley - Piedmont this week by beating Linganore, 42-7. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Knights.
Urbana took down Governor Thomas Johnson 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Middletown's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Brad Rinehart chipped in 134 yards. Mitch Sgrignoli helped Middletown's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.
Rinehart provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kevin Lynott's team beat the Lancers. Rinehart's favorite target this week was Tim Schumacher, who caught 2 passes for 57 yards.
Rinehart was the best running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 134 yards as the Knights topped Linganore. Danny Finn also contributed to the rushing game with 58 yards on the ground.
Middletown's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Tim Pirrone has thrown for 507 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Sgrignoli has 15 catches for 212 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Rick Conner's team and the Hawks. The Lancers enters the game ranked seventh in the state, while Urbana ranks ninth.
Oakdale made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,781 from 2,111. The improvement was largely due to a 49-14 victory over Tuscarora last week.
