The Kaufer Seahawks lost against the Freer Buckaroos on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Kaufer lost to the Buckaroos at home by a decisive 43-27 margin. Kaufer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Freer found their leader in underclassman Gabriela Salinas, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Salinas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Madison McQuagge was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Kaufer's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Freer, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Kaufer will head out on the road to challenge the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Agua Dulce's defense has only allowed 26.5 points per game this season, so the Seahawks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Freer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santa Maria has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
