Volleyball Recap: Madi Renteria and Gabby Cox Secure Win for Coahoma

Coahoma won the last time they faced Crane and Bree Lewis did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bulldogs blew past the Cranes 3-0 on Saturday thanks in part to Lewis, who had 12 kills, eight digs, and two blocks. She has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 26 times she's played.

Coahoma never let Crane on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 31-29.

Coahoma was led to victory by Gabby Cox and Madi Renteria. Cox had seven digs, four aces, and one block, while Renteria had eight kills, four blocks, and three digs. That's the most digs Cox has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Arrendondo, who had five aces and four digs.

Coahoma has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-11-1 record this season. As for Crane, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-18 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coahoma will take on rival Compass Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Crane is set to face off against their familiar foe Brownfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
