Bay Valley recap November 19, 2013
Pittsburg added to the longest winning streak in Bay Valley this week by beating Irvington, 47-13. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Pirates.
Freedom moved up to 171 from 225 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of topping Foothill 55-17.
Nsimba Webster threw for 164 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 10-15 with 0 interceptions.
Joe Mixon provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Freedom beat the Falcons. Mixon's key target this week was Noah Thompson, who caught 3 passes for 68 yards.
Mixon was a force in the backfield as the Falcons bested Foothill.
Thompson was the best wideout in the league this week as Freedom defeated the Falcons. Thompson tallied 3 receptions for 68 yards. Nick Garcia helped Freedom's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 55 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Webster of Deer Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,692. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Garcia. The Freedom star has 38 catches for 709 yards.
As it stands, the Falcons are in third, while Pittsburg is in second.
Freedom took down Foothill 55-17 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mixon ran for 281 yards and caught 1 pass for 24 yards during the win.
