Virginia City entered their tilt with Smith Valley on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Muckers have posted against the Bulldogs since April 23, 2021.

Bity Lopez and Nanna Lopez did most of the damage at the plate: Bity scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Nanna scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, Nanna posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Danika Baker, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Virginia City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .412 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Virginia City pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games. As for Smith Valley, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Virginia City beat Smith Valley by a score of 23-15 later that day.
