The contest between them and Big Valley Christian wasn't particularly close, with Turlock Christian falling 84-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), Turlock Christian still had to take the loss.
Turlock Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raphael Babba, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Ben Bylsma was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Turlock Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Big Valley Christian pulled down 20 offensive rebounds.
Leading Big Valley Christian to victory were Cohen Boone and Titus Boone. Boone almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Boone dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists. Boone has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Helm, who scored 14 points.
Turlock Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Big Valley Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-6.
Turlock Christian will take on Foresthill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Foresthill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Turlock Christian likes a good challenge. As for Big Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bret Harte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Big Valley Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
