Baseball Recap: Chaney Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Chaney had lost five games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 4-11 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Wellsville Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Cowboys: when they faced off against the Tigers two weeks ago, they had to take a 15-4 loss.

As for Wellsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

For Wellsville's part, Tyler Landess was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Landess has allowed since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Landess wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Ramsey, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaney will take on Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Wellsville, they will face off against Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
