Softball Recap: Wicksburg Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

Wicksburg was forced to take a big defeat against they on Thursday, they got the better of them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Rehobeth Rebels as they made off with a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 22 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ellie Cox made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anleigh Wood, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Chloe Joyner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wicksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rehobeth only posted a batting average of .222.

Wicksburg's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 36-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Rehobeth, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-15-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wicksburg will face off against Dale County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rehobeth, they will square off against Enterprise at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
