The Olympus Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 61-53 to Timpview. While losing is never fun, Olympus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Timpview is ranked tenth).
Olympus' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tessa Cromar, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Keily Trabanino, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Timpview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Atuaia, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Lina Ballin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists.
Olympus' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Timpview, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olympus will take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Tuesday. As for Timpview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Wasatch is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
