Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Baldwin's 12th in Last 15 Outings

Baldwin posted their closest win since March 27th on Tuesday. They skirted past the Middleburg Broncos 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Broncos back in February, they had to take a 10-7 loss.

Hayden Peebles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, Jazmine Ramos-Merced was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabella Screws, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Baldwin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Baldwin has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Middleburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Baldwin and Middleburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Indians (ranked 25th) will meet Yulee (ranked 141st) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Baldwin 3.2, the Hornets 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Middleburg will take on Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (33 vs. 159).
