2A/1A Conference 6 recap September 24, 2013
North Wilkes scaled the state rankings by moving to 251 from 283 this week, the biggest jump in 2A/1A Conference 6. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of defeating North Surry 35-34.
North Wilkes and the Greyhounds played the closest game in the league this week, with North Wilkes eventually emerging with a 35-34 victory. LJ Hendren threw for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 48 yards in the win.
Monty Chipman's team's Hendren and Josh Bare have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hendren has thrown for 925 yards this season, while Bare, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 22 catches for 460 yards. Will Simpson from Starmount leads the league in rushing with 270 yards.
As it stands, the Rams are in fourth, while Elkin is in second.
Wilkes Central lost to Watauga 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
