La Marque is 9-1 against Brazosport since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The La Marque Cougars will be playing at home against the Brazosport Exporters at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Marque has three straight wins, Brazosport has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
La Marque's and Bay City's matchup on Tuesday was close at halftime, but La Marque turned on the heat in the second half with 41 points. La Marque put the hurt on Bay City with a sharp 57-35 victory. Given La Marque's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 608th, while Bay City is ranked 1226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brendan Harris and Jasiya Johnson were among the main playmakers for La Marque as the former dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 14 points along with eight assists and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jecaryous Oliver, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brazosport pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-60 to Sweeny.
La Marque is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-16 record this season. As for Brazosport, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 18 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-22 record this season.
La Marque strolled past Brazosport in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 71-56. Will La Marque repeat their success, or does Brazosport have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
