After soaring to 39 points the game before, The Greenbrier East Spartans were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a serious blow against Parkersburg South, falling 72-7. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greenbrier East in their matchups with Parkersburg South: they've now lost seven in a row.
Parkersburg South was led to victory by Gage Wright and Turner Garretson. Wright rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Garretson threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Wright is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Eli Bartley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Greenbrier East's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Parkersburg South, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Greenbrier East will be playing at home against Princeton at 7:00 a.m. on Friday. Princeton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Greenbrier East likes a good challenge. As for Parkersburg South, they will head out on the road to face off against Wheeling Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheeling Park is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
